Part of being at my best is taking time to be mindful. In fact, I would argue that mental health is a huge part of women's health. As mothers, wives, daughters, caregivers we so often put ourselves last on the list or not on the list at all. Two things I try to do are Yoga as a form of exercise and scanning my body for tension. While this is not my area of specialty as a nurse practitioner we all owe it to ourselves to be educated about what we need, how to stay healthy, and how to prioritize our needs. For some it may be 15 minutes of silence, for others it may be time to take a nap. What is it for you?
